In A Pickle? Help Me Get Out Of This Mess!

Going Back to the Drawing Board

I once had a contractor call me with an unusual design problem. He had poured a foundation for a spec house and then realized he didn't like the design of the house he had originally chose to build. To make it all the more difficult, it wasn't a simple rectangular layout, but had numerous jogs, ins and outs. Do not try this at home! The further you are into the process the harder it is to change any one element, the longer you hold onto pieces and parts that don't work the harder it is to get loose of them.

Gather your information early, get answers to your technical questions early. And remember its still only paper, the cliché "going back to the drawing board" is a cliché because it is a necessary part of the process. Be patient. If there is something nagging at you, identify it, and change it now! Remember, field changes are what blow budgets.
Need some help with your design problem? Describe your dilemna and let me offer you some possible solutions.

Sidewalk Superintendents, Mothers-In-Law & Me

We’ve all encountered the friendly retiree watching diligently over a construction project’s progress. We’ve all been on the receiving end of one or another relative’s opinion on how they would improve your home. And alas I am only too happy to offer my two cents worth of advice for your building project!

Send me your questions and I will attempt to answer. I will hunt high and low for that fixture you saw somewhere in some vacation cabin or at least I'll take a shot at pointing you in the right direction.

Tell me about the house plan you are searching for, but can't find.
